Computer restarting on bootup

Hi Guys,

I am having some issues with my PC, I was having some problems with XP, locking up so I had to hard reset my computer so I decided it was about time to invest in Vista or 7.

Chose 7, did a fresh install and reformatted my hard drive, the install seemed to work OK and got the the end without and problem then after asking me what updates I wanted to install whatever I select causes the PC to restart and then continually restart before it gets to the windows screen.

Any help or possible ideas greatly accepted.

Can you boot into safe mode at all?

I will try this tonight, what will this allow me to do this, if i can load up into safe mode what will this do to be able to help me?

I am unable to boot into safe mode so I cannot make any changes in safe mode.

Does anyone have any other advice?

Does it do the same thing again if you perform another clean install?

It may be that you have hardware problems, so I'd run a memory check using one of the tools on the UBCD (it's a great tool to have on CD/USB):

Could it be because of viruses?
Try to run a complete system virus scan and malware scan to check for any viruses or malware causing this behavior.

or the issue might be related to the drivers. You could try to download and install the latest display and graphics drivers to fix the issue.
